COURSE APPLICATION

Brhaddhvani’s training programme is intended for those who are seriously committed to learning music. We are not concerned with your current level of skill or knowledge, but with your discipline, dedication and consistency. While we do not expect students to be full-time learners, we do require them to attend classes regularly every week without interruption or extended breaks. As with the cultivation of any true skill, students must commit to at least 1-2 hours of focused daily practice outside of class in order to progress.

Every student, regardless of prior experience, begins with a systematic and meticulous study of the fundamentals. The quintessence of our approach is the insistence on building a strong practical foundation, from which a cohesive practice gradually takes shape. Prior exposure or sensitivity to music may be an advantage, but it can never replace or bypass the fundamentals.

Our teaching focuses on the fundamentals, and we insist on precision and depth in learning. The results may not be immediately evident to a casual listener, and the process can be both testing and challenging. We live in times where everything is simplified, and journeys that traditionally take years of sustained effort are expected to yield immediate results. The simple truth, however, is that in music education there are no shortcuts or quick methods - it requires years of steady, dedicated practice and patience.

It is important to understand that we do not train students for stage performance. If your goal is to take the stage within a short period of time, Brhaddhvani is not the right setting for you. Our aim is to cultivate sensitivity to the subtle nuances of music, guiding you towards becoming an independent, self-reliant learner with the ability to continue exploring and growing on your own.

While this may sound appealing in theory, the actual process is demanding, exacting and often tests one’s patience. For this reason, we consider applications only from those who are genuinely prepared for sustained effort and long-term commitment. We ask that you respect our values and submit an application only if you can genuinely say that this path is for you.
